I used Cardinal Construction for repair of the siding of my house. Mel was extremely efficient, as was her crew; and the jobs was done in the exact time she predicted; and I especially liked that fact that the crewed cleaned up the site everyday.
Mel was the Best.
Every one of her crew were top notch!
I could trust them all to go above and beyond, and I did more than once.
I will have them back in the near future - so in a way I don't want to give away my secret, in case they gets too busy for me.
I but I respect them too much to be that selfish.
If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! Thank you Cardinal Construction for the outstanding work you did for me!
Mel and her team remodeled our 1/2 bathroom a few years ago, and our master bath this year, and I would absolutely recommend Cardinal for any home improvements. Mel was helpful and responsive while we were looking for quotes, offering great advice along the way. The guys who did the work were professional, courteous and extremely friendly, and the end result exceeded our expectations. I wouldn't consider any other company for future projects.
Mel at Cardinal Construction and her team are fabulous. I have used Cardinal Construction twice, once to redo our "new" home and later for a smaller job. Our new home was foreclosed/distressed and wet/moldy. Mel and her team worked on almost every part of the house and made it both beautiful and livable. Mel showed herself to be ethical when she came up with excellent solutions that were more economical than my original ideas, She and everyone who works for her are professional and very polite. When I mentioned to Mel that I was paying rent and a mortgage until we could move in, she arranged for some sub-contractors to do the paint and some of the floors and finished a week early! We are very happy with our home. There were some issues with work that those sub-contractors had done and, when I reported the problems to Mel, she came the same day and her own team immediately did the needed work at no charge to me. All of this and she stayed on budget. I have recommended her to several of my friends and continue to do so.
In 2014 we bought our fixer upper home using a HUD 203K loan which is a tightly monitored construction loan that's supervised by a 3rd party so much so, that when I mentioned it most contractors simply walked away not wanting anything to do with it! Mel (Cardinal Construction) on the other hand, was quite knowledgeable and helped us get every possible advantage from the 203K loan.
On the job, she was patient and understanding as we chose color schemes, materials and determined kitchen and bathroom layouts. She made sure that all the subcontractors performed their work to code and if not had them do it again. Her guys were neat, professional and generally great guys who did a fabulous job turning our fixer upper into a wonderful home.
I can't say enough about Mel's work ethic, patience, flexibility and knowledge, she made a daunting process bearable and we consistently receive compliments on the work she and her crew performed.
We have a home up in Ben Lomond and have had Cardinal do a number of jobs for us. They always come in for a fair price and get the job done on time and do it right. I highly recommend them!!!!
Cardinal Construction did all of the renovation work for our business. Mel's workers were always on time (usually here early), cleaned up after themselves every day (much to my amazement), and did an outstanding job. We had an incredibly tight timeline and Cardinal Construction worked quickly but thouroughly to create the space we had discussed. I highly recommend this construction company to anyone with a home or business in need of renovations or remodeling.

"Cardinal Construction is a great company, good work, friendly workers, follow-up is outstanding, and the best thing is the clean-up during and after the project is completed. I will recommend Cardinal Construction to my friends and family."

"What I most appreciate about Cardinal Construction is their superb customer service. Mel and her work team are responsive, courteous and are always on time. Throughout our bathroom remodel, there was clear and timely communication between everyone involved in the project. This began with a very thorough and accurate estimate, and ended with our being 100% satisfied with the finished work."
"We contracted with Melanie Dion of Cardinal Construction to do a small remodel of our kitchen which included new granite countertops, sink, faucets, building a wine rack (a change in the original plan when our wine fridge did not fit where we had planned) and china cupboard with glass doors and some painting.
Our experience began with Mel spending an unexpected amount of time communicating with us regarding our wants. When the bid was presented we were more than delighted with the detail of the proposal and of course the price which was fair and reasonable for our job.
Our satisfaction continued to grow as the job started. Each and every day the crew and sub-contractors were on the job they showed up on time, ready to work and completed a full day of work. Our job was obviously a priority and it was started and finished within the time frame originally agreed upon (which included a deadline for an annual party). Although Mel was not on site the entire time the project was running she was on our site every day at least once and available to us via phone the entire time.
Mel’s crew and sub-contractors were nice, polite, professional, totally customer oriented and very skilled at their trade. They were concerned with us and our comfort during the job. I personally was so impressed with the fact the crew was willing to take up the paper protecting our hardwood floors every evening and reset it every morning if we wished. Further, they hooked up one side of my sink every evening before leaving so I would have a functioning kitchen.
We delight in spending time in our kitchen on a daily basis and couldn’t be more satisfied with the end result, which is why we again contracted with Cardinal Construction when replacing our traditional water heater with an on demand unit.
We are eager to refer Cardinal Construction, the construction company with integrity!"

"Thanks for making our house so much more beautiful."
"It’s been a pleasure working with Cardinal Construction. Thanks for everything – including my last minute addition."
"The deck is VERY nice and we’re very happy with it. We’ve been using it pretty regularly since it was completed, even at dusk and dark (with the patio heater). Please express my appreciation to the guys. They were very concerned about the workmanship, even to the point of tearing out some decking at one point when they realized that there was a curved gap between boards following a board which had a curve. I know enough about construction, having done some myself with a contractor friend that I know the physical work involved and I know that the workmanship on the deck is EXCELLENT. I couldn’t be happier. GREAT JOB"
"I am so happy with how the project came out. Every time I pull up into the driveway, I get a big ol’ grin on my face. Another satisfied customer for Cardinal Construction. You guys rock. Thanks."
"I wanted to echo my mom’s pleasure with her bathroom – it looks great! I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I wanted to comment on your attention to detail and high quality standards. I hope we have a chance to work with you again. Thanks so much for a fabulous bathroom."

Every once in a while, Melanie Dion gets a quizzical look when she shows up at a job site.
Dion owns Santa Cruz-based Cardinal Construction, one of a small but growing number of women-owned contracting businesses in the industry.
"Occasionally people will say, ‘Oh, I thought the boss was going to show up!’ " said Dion with a laugh. "But they get over it pretty quick."
Dion, 43, who has been licensed since 1998, started the business in May. Cardinal Construction does residential contracting jobs including framing, drywall, repairs from floods or fires, finish work such as trim or painting, and some roofing.Read full article
